Exporting & Sharing Frames

Export Any Moment

Every frame in Retrace is a full-resolution screenshot that you can export. Copy it to paste into a document, save it to your Mac, or share it directly to Messages, Mail, or any other app.

Quick Copy with ⌘C

The fastest way to export a frame is the keyboard shortcut:

1. Navigate to any frame in your timeline
2. Press ⌘ + C
3. A confirmation toast appears: "Image Copied"
4. Paste your image anywhere with ⌘ + V

Context Menu Options

For more control, right-click (or Control-click) the player or a filmstrip thumbnail. The commands are named for where you use them:

From the Player View

Right-click the large preview image in the center of the timeline. Choose Copy Image, Share..., or Save As... to export the currently displayed frame.

From the Filmstrip

Right-click any thumbnail in the filmstrip at the bottom. Choose Copy Frame, Share Frame, or Save Frame As... to export that specific frame, even if it is not currently shown in the player.

Share to Any App

Share... in the player and Share Frame in the filmstrip open the native macOS share sheet:

• AirDrop to nearby Apple devices
• Messages to send via iMessage or SMS
• Mail to attach to a new email
• Notes to save in your notes
• Any other app that supports macOS sharing

Save to Disk

Choose Save As... in the player or Save Frame As... in the filmstrip to export a frame to your Mac:

1. Right-click the player or a filmstrip thumbnail
2. Select the matching save command
3. Pick a destination folder
4. Click Save

Files are named Retrace_[timestamp].png by default, making them easy to identify later.
